About Hannes
Hannes Herbst is a civil engineering technologist who offers various services in the built environment. Over the past 30 years, he has mastered many skills in this field, including building and civil construction. Over the past 15 years, he has been active, almost exclusively, within the civil consulting industry.

Civil Engineering
While employed as a civil engineer, Hannes reached the position of senior civil engineer at a large international civil engineering consulting company and has been in private practice since 2022. He has extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, covering roads and stormwater engineering, pressurised or pumped reticulation networks and gravity reticulation networks. He also has a broad knowledge of civil site and earthworks.
He was involved in the design of several mining camps, from 500-person camps to 10,000-person camps. On these projects, he was responsible for layout, civil design, and oversight of the design team.
Through strategic partnerships, he also offers comprehensive structural design services.
Hannes is an expert user in industry-leading Autodesk Software, like Civil 3d, Revit, Navisworks and Recap.

Terrestrial Laser Scanning
Hannes also offers Terrestrial 3D Laser scanning services. This service can be provided independently or as a value-added service on civil engineering and architectural projects. He uses scanning instrumentation and software supplied by Leica, an industry leader. His equipment is especially suited for smaller spaces like pump stations, roof structures and H-Vac equipment.

Home Inspections
In the early years of his career, Hannes mastered all building trades, which he subsequently supplemented with a bachelor’s engineering qualification. His extensive building construction and engineering experience equips him particularly well to perform very high-standard Home Inspections.
Home Inspections have become a necessity when property is bought or sold. An independent professional home inspection report can provide buyers and sellers peace of mind. Buyers have a better understanding of the condition of the property they are buying, and sellers can rest assured that they cannot be held liable for any hidden defects.

Training and Training Courses
Since 2011, Hannes has been contracted as a part-time lecturer at the local University in Port Elizabeth. Between 2011 and 2014, he presented subjects in civil engineering and, since 2015, in Construction Management.
Hannes also developed several online training courses in engineering software and some technical development courses. He can also provide online or on-site training on the following software packages:
